Edit Staff Details
Managers can edit a staff member's name, email, hourly wage and hours per week from the store's Staff page. Here's how.
It took longer than it should have. Since January 2019, managers have been able to fix a staff member's details themselves instead of emailing us to do it.
The usual reason you need this is boring but important: a typo in someone's email address. One wrong letter and they never get their roster, never get their verification email and never get announcements. Being able to fix it in ten seconds saves a lot of confusion.
How do I edit a staff member's details?
Go to your store, open the Staff tab, and find the person in the list. Click Actions next to their name, then Edit. You can change:
- First name and last name
- Hourly wage
- Hours per week
Save, and that's it.
Hourly wage only shows for store owners, or for managers if the owner has allowed managers to see wages in the store settings. Some owners prefer to keep pay between themselves and each staff member, and that's a sensible default.
What is "hours per week" used for?
It's the hours you've agreed with that person, written however suits you, like "20" or "15-20". The roster editor uses it to warn you when someone's rostered hours for the week don't match what they're contracted for. The warnings show as an orange count at the top of the editor, so you can catch an under-rostered staff member before you publish.
What else is in the Actions menu?
From the same menu you can remove someone from the store, add an employee as a manager, or send them a password reset email if they're locked out.
Frequently asked questions
Can staff update their own details?
Staff can manage their own account settings. Managers can also correct a staff member's name and email from the Staff page when needed.
Who can see staff wages?
The store owner always can. Managers can only see wages if the owner has turned on that setting for the store.
What if a staff member's emails aren't arriving?
Check their email address under Actions, then Edit. If it's correct, ask them to look for the verification email from WeRoster, since roster emails only go to verified addresses.
