Asking Ros for help

Ros is WeRoster's help assistant: what it can answer, what it can look up in your account, how to reach a person, and how long chats are kept.

4 min read

Ros is WeRoster's help assistant. Ask it how to do something in WeRoster, or ask about your own rosters, leave and availability, and it answers in a few seconds. Click Ask Ros at the bottom right of any page, or choose Ask Ros in the account menu. If Ros can't sort it out, click Talk to a person and it sends your question to the WeRoster team by email.

Opening Ros

  • On a computer: click the Ask Ros button at the bottom right, or click your initials and name in the top right and choose Ask Ros.
  • On a phone: tap the Ask Ros button just above the bottom bar, or tap Account in the bottom bar and choose Ask Ros. Ros opens full screen.
  • In the support centre: these help pages have an Ask Ros button too. If you're not logged in, Ros answers questions about using WeRoster and about plans and pricing, but it can't look anything up in an account.

Ros starts with a few suggested questions to get you going. Type your own in Ask a question and press Enter or the send button. To start over, click New chat at the top. Your chat is still there when you come back, so you can carry on where you left off.

What Ros can help with

  • How to do things in WeRoster. Ros answers from these support articles and links you to the right one, so you can read the full steps.
  • Your own information. When you're logged in, Ros can look things up for you, for example When do I work next?, Who's working this Saturday?, Is next week's roster published?, What will next week's roster cost? or Are any leave requests waiting?
  • Your subscription, if you're an owner: your plan, its price, and when your trial ends or your subscription renews.

What Ros can see

Ros only looks up what your role already lets you see in WeRoster:

  • Owners and managers can ask about the stores they run: rosters (including unpublished ones), roster totals, staff details, leave requests and availability. Owners can also ask about pay rates and wage costs, and so can managers when the owner has turned on Managers can see wages.
  • Employees can ask about their own shifts, published rosters at their store, who they're working with, and their own leave and availability.

Ros can't see other businesses' stores, and an employee can never get pay rates or wage costs from it.

What Ros can't do

Ros can't change anything. Approving leave, publishing a roster, editing shifts and changing your plan all happen in the app. Ros explains how and links you to the right page.

Ros can make mistakes, so check anything important, such as a shift time before you rely on it. If an answer helped (or didn't), use the thumbs under it to tell us.

Talking to a person

  1. Click Talk to a person under the message box.
  2. Ros checks you'd like it to send your question to the team. Say yes.
  3. Ros emails your question and the conversation so far to [email protected]. The team replies to the email address you log in with.

You can also email [email protected] yourself, or use the contact page. If Ros is ever unavailable, the chat shows a Contact support link instead. See Contacting support and sending feedback.

Your privacy

  • Each conversation is kept so you can carry on where you left off, and deleted automatically 12 months after its last message.
  • What Ros looks up in your account is sent to the AI model to write the answer, and is limited to what your role lets you see.
  • If you ask Ros to pass you on to a person, the conversation is emailed to support.

Our privacy policy has the details.

Who can do this

Everyone. Owners, managers and employees can ask Ros inside the app. Visitors can ask Ros about WeRoster in the support centre. Talk to a person needs you to be logged in; visitors get a Contact support link instead.
