Getting started with WeRoster
The quickest path from sign-up to your first published roster: set up your store, add your team, build the week and publish it.

WeRoster gets you from sign-up to a published roster in four steps: start your free trial, set up your store, add your team, then build the week on the roster and click Publish & notify so everyone gets their shifts. A short setup walks you through the first three steps straight after you sign up.
The four steps
- Start your free trial. Sign up with your name, email and a password. No card is needed. See Signing up and your free trial.
- Set up your store. The setup asks for your store or business name and the hours it opens and closes. See Creating your first store.
- Add your team. Add each person with their name and email. They get an email to verify their address and choose a password. See Adding your staff.
- Build and publish the roster. Open the week, drag across the hours each person works, then click Publish & notify (just Publish on a phone). See Building and publishing your first roster.
Your getting started checklist
New owners see a Get your first roster out card at the top of their Timetable. It lists five steps: create your store, add your team, build your first roster, publish it and notify your staff, then bring your team in (staff adding their availability, or a manager to help you roster). Each step ticks itself off as you do it, and the number on Timetable in the menu shows how many are left. Once they're all done the card says You're all set for a couple of days, then disappears. Click Hide this to put it away sooner.
Only owners see the checklist. Managers and employees never do.
Finding your way around
On a computer, the blue bar along the top has:
- Timetable: your home page. Your next shift, your week and your leave, plus (for owners and managers) a card for each store showing who's on now and what needs doing. See Your Timetable.
- Availability: when you can and can't work. See Setting your availability.
- Stores: every store you own or manage. Only owners and managers see this.
- Help: opens this support centre.
- Your initials and first name (top right): your account menu, with Settings, Subscription (owners only), Refer a friend (owners with an active subscription), Send feedback, Ask Ros, Help and Log out.
On a phone, the same sections sit in a tab bar along the bottom of the screen: Timetable, Availability, Stores (owners and managers only) and Account. Tap Account to open the account menu.
There's also an Ask Ros button in the bottom corner of the screen. Ros is WeRoster's assistant: it can answer questions about the app and look up your own rosters and leave. See Asking Ros for help.
Inside a store
Open a store from Stores, or from its card on your Timetable. The store header has tabs for Rosters, Staff, Leave (with a number when requests are waiting), Shifts and Settings, plus Terminal if you've turned on the in-store clock-in terminal. Buttons for the page you're on, like New employee or Announcement, sit at the top right of the header. If you run more than one store, use the switcher next to the store name to jump between them.
Store pages are for owners and managers. Employees have everything they need on their Timetable.
Owners, managers and employees
Everyone in WeRoster has a role in each store:
- Owner: created the store, pays the subscription, and can do everything.
- Manager: builds, publishes and locks rosters, manages staff and approves leave.
- Employee: sees their published shifts, sets their availability and requests leave.
See Owners, managers and employees for the full breakdown.
