Transferring store ownership

Hand a store to another WeRoster account, for example when you sell the business or a franchisee takes over.

If you sell a business or someone else is taking over the bills, you can transfer the store to them. They need a WeRoster account first. Open the store's Settings tab, click Transfer store under Ownership, enter their email and confirm. The store, its rosters and staff all move to them, and it counts towards their subscription from then on.

Before you start

The new owner must already have a WeRoster account. If they don't, ask them to sign up first, or add them to the store as a manager so an account is created for them.

Transferring

  1. Open the store and click the Settings tab (on a phone, swipe the tabs sideways to find it).
  2. In the Ownership section, next to Transfer ownership, click Transfer store.
  3. Enter the Email of the new owner. It must be the email they sign in to WeRoster with.
  4. Click Transfer store.
  5. Confirm with Transfer store.

You're taken back to your Stores page.

This cannot be undone. You lose access to the store (unless you're also one of its managers), and only the new owner can transfer it back.

If you see There is no WeRoster account with that email, double-check the address or ask them to sign up first.

What changes

  • The store counts towards the new owner's subscription instead of yours.
  • Only the new owner can transfer, archive or reactivate the store, or turn on Managers can see wages.
  • If the new owner has never owned a store before, they become an owner and can open the Subscription page from their account menu to subscribe.

Who can do this

Only the store's owner.
