Owners, managers and employees

What owners, managers and employees can each see and do in WeRoster.

3 min read

WeRoster has three roles, set per store. Owners can do everything, including billing, archiving and transferring stores. Managers run the day-to-day: rosters, staff, leave and shifts. Employees see their own published shifts, set their availability and request leave. One person can be a manager at one store and an employee at another.

Owners

The owner is the person who created the store (or had it transferred to them). They pay for the subscription, which covers all the stores they own. Owners are added to their own stores as a manager and an employee automatically, so they can roster themselves. On the Staff page the owner has an Owner label next to their name.

Only owners see Subscription in the account menu, the Ownership section (Transfer store and Archive store) in a store's Settings, and New store on the Stores page.

Managers

Managers are added on the store's Staff page with New manager, or by choosing Make a manager too from an employee's ⋯ menu. The Managers section says what they can do: edit, publish and lock rosters, plus see staff wages if the owner has allowed it.

A manager only appears on the roster if they're also an employee of the store. In the Managers list, open the ⋯ menu and choose Add to the roster as an employee.

If the owner's subscription has ended, managers can still open the store, but publishing rosters and notifying staff are paused until the owner subscribes again.

Employees

Employees don't see Stores. If they open a store link, they're taken to their Timetable instead. Their Timetable shows their next shift, their week (once the roster is published), a Full roster button to see who they're working with, and their leave requests. They also have Availability and the account menu. See Your Timetable.
