Wage costs and estimated sales
See what each day and week of the roster costs in wages, and your wage cost as a percentage of estimated sales.
2 min read
When your staff have hourly wages set, WeRoster works out the wage cost of every roster as you build it: per day under each day's grid, per week in the roster's summary card, and across weeks on the store's Rosters tab with a chart. Enter a day's Estimated sales and you'll also see the wage cost as a percentage of sales, so you can spot an expensive day before you publish.
Adding pay rates
Wage costs use each person's Hourly wage for that store. Add it when you add the person, or later on the store's Staff tab: click Edit next to them (on a phone, the ⋯ menu, then Edit details). To change several people at once, use Wages and hours above the staff list. See Changing wages and contracted hours.
If nobody has a pay rate yet, the Rosters tab shows a reminder that wages show as $0, with a link to add pay rates on the Staff page.
In the roster editor
- The week summary at the top shows the week's hours, how many people are rostered and the total in wages.
- Under each day you'll see:
- hours: total hours for everyone that day.
- wages: each person's hours multiplied by their hourly wage.
- Estimated sales: type in your expected takings for the day. It saves when you leave the box.
- wage cost: shows once you've entered estimated sales, as a percentage. It turns orange above 28% and red above 35%.
On the Rosters tab
The store's Rosters tab shows:
- cards for This week, Next week and your Average week (over the last 8 weeks with shifts), in wages if you can see them, otherwise in hours,
- a Wages by week chart (or Hours by week if wages aren't available),
- a Wages column in the Weeks list, next to Hours.
Who can see wages
Owners always see wages. Managers only see them when the owner turns on Managers can see wages in the store's Settings tab, and only owners can change that switch. Employees never see wages or pay rates. See Store settings.
